James "Jim" Arthur Lovell, Jr.,is a former NASA astronaut and a
retired
captain in the U.S. Navy. He is best remembered as the
commander of the
Apollo 13 mission, which suffered a oxygen 
tank explosion en route to the
Moon, thus aborting the lunar
landing. The crew was successfully brought back to Earth.

Frank Borman headed the Apollo 8 mission, which was the first time a team of
astronauts had ever circled the moon. He began flying at the age of 15, and 
joined the Air Force after high school.
