The Mary Tyler Moore Show (also known simply by the name of the show’s
star,Mary Tyler Moore) is a television sitcom that aired on the CBS network
from September 19, 1970 to March 19, 1977. The program was a television
breakthrough, with the first never-married, independent career woman as
the central character Mary Richards). It has also been cited as "one of the
most acclaimed television programs ever produced" in U.S. history. Critics
gave it high praises ,receiving Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy
Series three years in a row (1975–77), and continued to be honored
long after the final episode aired.

Radio talk show host Lars Larson has been named Best Radio On-Air Personality
by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters. His flagship station, KXL was also
named Station of the Year at the associations annual fall conference which
was held this past weekend..
NASCAR’S JIMMIE JOHNSON IS 36 TODAY
Jimmie Kenneth Johnson is a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race car driver for
Hendrick Motorsports. He d rives the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet. Johnson began
racing motorcycles at the age of five. He started stock car racing in 1998. He
then moved to the national American Speed Association (ASA) series for late
model touring cars, and won a rookie of the year title.
In 2000, Johnson switched to the NASCAR Busch Series, now Nationwide
Series. He joined Hendrick Motorsports in the Sprint Cup Series in 2002. He
won his first Cup series championship in 2006 and with further wins from 2007
through 2010 became the only driver in NASCAR history to win five consecutive championships.
Johnson has recorded 54 wins, 214 top-tens, and 25 pole positions between
2002 and 2011. He was the first race car driver to become Associated Press
Male Athlete of the Year in 2009, and has won Driver of the Year four times,
most recently in 2010.

The Robe won Academy Awards for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Color,
and Best Costume Design, Color. It was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading
Role (Richard Burton), Best Cinematography, Color, and Best Picture. The film
also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture. The Robe was the first movie
filmed in the widescreen CinemaScope process.Â
LAUREN BACALL HAS TURNED 87 TODAY
Actress Lauren Bacall ( born Betty Joan Perske) became a leading lady in
the 1944 film To Have And Have Not which starred her husband Humphrey
Bogart. She appeared in The Big Sleep (1946), and How Marry a Millionaire
(1943), just to name a few. Becall also worked in the Broadway musical
Woman of the Year in 1981. Her performance in the film The Mirror Has
Two Faces (1996) earned her a Golden Globe Award as well an Academy
Award nomination. In 1999, she was ranked #20 of the 25 actresses on the
AFI’s 100 Years…100 Stars list. Lauren Bacall was selected by the Academy
of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to receive an Academy Honorary Award
at the inaugural Governors Awards in 2009.
