Cuba Gooding, Jr. won an Academy Award for Best
Actor for his character, Rod Tidwell in the 1996 film 
Jerry Maguire.

Cuba played Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Carl Brashear
in the above 2000 film. Some exterior locations were shot 
in downtown Portland.

Frank Sinatra’s appearance in this film was part of a
ten-minute short opposing anti-Semitism and racial
prejudice at the end of World War ll. It received an
honorary Academy Award and a special Golden
Globe Award in 1946.

The award went to  88-year-old Betty White, the former star of the NBC
sitcom Golden Girls which ran from 1985 to 1992.
