LONDON (AP) — Family spokesman says physicist Stephen Hawking has
died at the age of 76. Hawking had a rare early-onset slow-progressing form
of
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neuron disease
or
Lou Gehrig’s disease, that gradually paralyzed him over the decades.
