NEWSCASTER BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1920
David McClure Brinkley (July 10, 1920 – June 11, 2003)
David Brinkley was a TV newscaster for 50 years and the partner of
Chet Huntley. He won ten Emmy Awards three George Foster Peabody
Awards, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom during his career. He
served in the United States Army for two years and was a journalist for
a local newspaper.

PORTLAND HAS A WINNER!
KGW-TV News reporter Katherine Cook
The 51st Annual Northwest Regional Emmy Awards were held in Seattle on
Saturday night and the Emmy for "Feature News Report – Light Feature" went
to Portland’s Katherine L. Cook from KGW News Channel 8 for her story titled
”Shot In The Dark”, a true story about a blind photographer who takes all of his
pictures based on what he hears around him, thus the title "Shot In The Dark”.
