June Allyson
(born Eleanor Geisman in The Bronx, New York)
(October 7, 1917 – July 8, 2006)

June Allyson was a stage, film, and television actress, dancer,
and singer. She began her career as a dancer on Broadway
in 1938 and signed with MGM in 1943. She rose to fame the
following year in Two Girls and a Sailor.

The musical My Fair Lady premiered on Broadway March 15, 1956, at the Mark
Hellinger Theatre in New York City. It transferred to the Broadhurst Theatre and
then The Broadway Theatre, where it closed after 2,717 performances. A 6 1/2
year run on Broadway. The show, at the time, held the record for the longest-
running musical.
