Lyndon Baines Johnson (August 27, 1908 – January 22, 1973)
Johnson served as the 36th president of the United States
from 1963 to 1969.
He holds the distinction of being one of the few presidents
who served in all elected offices at the federal level.
The Sound of Music is a musical with music by Richard Rodgers,
lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and a book by Howard Lindsay
and Russel Crouse. It is based on the 1949 memoir of Maria von
Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. Set in Austria on
the eve of the Anschluss in 1938.
The original Broadway production of The Sound of Music,starring
Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel (below),was a smash success
from the very night of its opening.
