     Douglas Carl Engelbart (January 30, 1925 – July 2, 2013) 

Engelbart was the director of Stanford Research Institute’s Augmentation
Research Center in San Francisco. He is best known for his work on the
challenges of human/computer interaction, resulting in the invention of
the computer mouse in 1968.

Douglas Engelbart was born in Portland, Oregon and graduated from
Franklin High School in 1942. He then attended and graduated from
Oregon State College at Corvallis. Engelbart died late Tuesday in
San Francisco. The cause of his death wasn’t announced.
