RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1962

‘’Mixed-up Confusion” was Dylan’s first single to be released in
the United States. According to legend, he wrote the song in a
cab on the way to the Columbia Studios in New York for the
recording session in November of 1962. 


Bob Dylan (Robert Allen Zimmerman) turned 74 in May.

SHOW NAME CHANGED ON THIS DAY IN 1927

The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly country-music stage concert in Nashville, Tennessee. It was founded on November 28, 1925, by George D. Hay as a
one-hour program called the "barn dance" on
WSM radio. The name was
changed when the phrase "Grand Ole Opry" was first uttered on the air 
on December 10, 1927.

KIM BASINGER IS 62 TODAY


Kimila Ann "Kim" Basinger

Actress Kim Basinger played a major role in Batman in 1989 and won the
Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Lynn  
Bracken in the 1997 film L.A. Confidential. She studied ballet for over ten
years and worked as a cover girl for five years before debuting in Charlie’s
Angels
on ABC-TV.

MAGAZINE PUBLISHED ON THIS DAY IN 1883

Newspaper publisher Cyrus Curtis included a column for women in the "Tribune
and Farmer" which he had started in 1879. His wife, Louisa Knapp Curtis did not
think his women’s column was very good, and so she took it over and made it
popular enough to expand at first to a full-page and eventually to a monthly
supplement. This supplement became the Ladies Home Journal and Practical Housekeeper.
