UNRELEASED RECORDINGS FOUND

Hank-Williams

Hank Williams, Sr.  (
Hiram King Williams)  (9-17-1923 / 1-1-1953)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Previously unreleased recordings of country music
legend Hank Williams performing songs on a 1950 radio show will be released
next month for download and on vinyl.

"The Garden Spot Programs, 1950" features 24 songs and jingles from a taped
show that aired on early country radio stations, sponsored by a Texas plant
nursery. Most of the tapes were lost, but only the copies from one station, KSIB-
AM in Creston, Iowa, survived. The recordings were transferred, restored and
mastered for release May 20 by Omnivore Records.

The singer’s daughter, Jett Williams, said in a written statement that no one knew
these recordings existed.

Williams’ biographer, Colin Escott, wrote the liner notes for the album and said
the recordings were used to augment live acts on local radio stations.

Celebrities Arriving At The WWE's SummerSlam Kickoff Party In Hollywood

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper (Roderick "Roddy" George Toombs)

Piper made his pro debut in Winnipeg at the age of 14. When he made
his way to the ring playing the bagpipes (his gimmick) the ring-announcer
introduced him as "Roddy the Piper", the fans heard it as “Roddy Piper”
and the name stuck.

Roddy came to the Pacific Northwest from California in late 1978-early
1979 where he signed with promoter Don Owen of Pacific Northwest
Wrestling, a part of Don Owen Sports which operated out of Portland,
Oregon. He won several championships before moving on to other pro-
wrestling organizations. Piper was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame
in 2005.

Roddy Piper, along with Don Coss, created Portland Wrestling Uncut, a
revival of the original Portland Wrestling in 2012.
