The format of CBS Radio Mystery Theater was similar to that of classic old
time radio
shows like Suspense, and The Whistler, in that the episodes were
introduced by a host (E. G. Marshall) who provided brief commentary during
the program which aired from January 6, 1974 till the final episode December
31, 1982.

Mr. and Mrs. North was a radio mystery series that aired on NBC and
CBS from 1942 to 1954. Alice Frost and Joseph Curtin had the original 
title roles. The program received the first Best Radio Drama Edgar Award
from the Mystery Writers of America. In 1953 Barbara Britton and Richard
Denning took over the roles of Mr. and Mrs. North.

Mary Tyler Moore was born in the Brooklyn Heights section of 
Brooklyn, New York.

Moore is best known for The Mary Tyler Moore Show on CBS from 
1970 to 1977, and The Dick Van Dyke Show also CBS from 1961 to
1966. She also appeared in a number of films, most notably 1967’s
Thoroughly Modern Millie and 1980’s Ordinary People. 

Moore was diagnosed with Type I diabetes when she was 33. In 2011,
she had surgery to remove a meningioma, a benign brain tumor. Since
2012, she has reportedly suffered heart and kidney problems and has
become nearly blind.
