Singer Neil Diamond has been eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame for several years now, but never got a nomination until
now. The 2011 class for the Cleveland hall made the induction 
announcement Tuesday. The ceremony will be in New York
City on March 14, 2011.

Abraham Lincoln was elected as the sixteenth President
of the United States. He defeated three other candidates.

Republican Richard Nixon defeated Democrat Helen Gahagan Douglas.
Helen was a well-known star on Broadway in the 1920’s.

President Harry S. Truman narrowly won re-election over Republican
challenger Thomas E. Dewey. It was widely felt that Truman was going
to lose the election. As a result,the Chicago Tribune’s first edition ran
the incorrect headline.
