Daniel Boone (November 2, 1734 – September 26, 1820)
Boone was an American pioneer, explorer,woodsman, and frontiersman,
whose frontier exploits made him one of the first folk heroes of the United
States. Daniel Boone is most famous for his exploration and settlement of
what is now Kentucky, which was then part of Virginia, but on the other
side of the mountains from the settled areas. Boone was elected to the
first of his three terms in the Virginia General Assembly during the
Revolutionary War, and fought in the Battle of Blue Licks in 1782.

Columbus Day is a holiday celebrating the anniversary of Christopher Columbus‘
arrival in the Americas, which happened on October 12, 1492. It first became an
official state holiday in Colorado in 1906, and became a federal holiday in the
United States in 1937.
Leslie Townes "Bob" Hope (May 29, 1903 – July 27, 2003)
Hope won an amateur talent contest for his Charlie Chaplin
impersonation in 1915. In 1997, the U.S. Congress declared
him the "first and only honorary veteran of the U.S. armed
forces."
