YOUNGEST PRESIDENT ELECTED IN 1960
On this day – Nov. 8 1960 – John F. Kennedy defeats Richard
Nixon in one of the closest presidential elections of the
twentieth century to become the 35th president of the United
States.
Kennedy, 43, became the youngest man ever to be elected
elected president of the United States, narrowly beating
Republican Vice President Richard Nixon. He was also the
first Catholic to become president.
TWO POLITICAL FIRSTS ON THIS DAY IN 1989
David N. Dinkins (1927 – 2020) Douglas D. Wilder
On November 7, 1989, in New York, former Manhattan borough
president David Dinkins, a Democrat, was elected New York
City’s first African American mayor, while in Virginia,
Lieutenant Governor Douglas Wilder, also a Democrat,
becomes the first elected African American state governor
in American history.

ACTRESS SALLY FIELD IS 78 YEARS YOUNG

Sally Margaret Field IS known for her extensive work on screen
and stage, she has received many accolades throughout her
career spanning six decades, including two Academy Awards,
two Golden Globe Awards, and three Primetime Emmy Awards,
in addition to nominations for a Tony Award and two British
Academy Film Awards. She was presented with a star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014, the National Medal of Arts in
2014, the Kennedy Center Honor in 2019, and the Screen Actors
Guild Life Achievement Award in 2023.
