On August 20, 1619, “20 and odd” Angolans, kidnapped by the Portuguese, arrived in the British colony of Virginia and were
then bought by English colonists. The arrival of the enslaved
Africans in the New World marked the beginning of two and a
half centuries of
slavery in North America.

GERMAN WARSHIPS HAVE RESURFACED

Low water levels on Danube reveal sunken WW2 German warships | Reuters

(Fox News) – Dozens of German warships that sank during World
War II
have resurfaced in the Danube River near Prahovo, Serbia.

The vessels – exposed due to the river’s low water levels – were
among hundreds of
Nazi Germany’s Black Sea fleet that retreated
from Soviet forces in 1944.

Robert Plant is best known as the lead singer and lyricist of the
English
rock band Led Zeppelin for all of its existence from 1968
until 1980, when the band broke up following the death of
John
Bonham
, the band’s drummer. He was inducted with the band
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.

In 2008, Rolling Stone editors ranked him number 15 on their
list of the 100 best singers of all time. In 2011, Rolling Stone
readers ranked Plant the greatest of all lead singers. In 2006,
Hit Parader magazine named Plant the "Greatest Metal Vocalist
of All Time".           

In 2009, Plant was voted "the greatest voice in rock" in a poll
conducted by
Planet Rock. Plant is 74 years old today.

Chuck Connors (1921-1992) and Johnny Crawford (1946-2021)

The Rifleman aired on ABC from September 30, 1958, to
April 8, 1963, as a production of
Four Star Television. It
was one of the first
primetime series on US television to
show a single parent raising a child.

The series starred Chuck Connors as rancher Lucas
McCain and
Johnny Crawford as his son Mark McCain.

The Rifleman was partially filmed in Wildwood Regional
Park
in Thousand Oaks, California.

MUSEUM FOR PINBALL MACHINES IN JERSEY

A museum in New Jersey is giving people a fun and interactive experience from the past.

According to Reuters, the Silverball Retro Arcade in Asbury Park,
New Jersey, holds more than 150 working pinball machines that
visitors can play. Some of the machines date back to the 1950’s.

Robert Ilvento (below) and Steve Zuckerman are co-founders of
the museum.
