ACTRESS HOLLY HUNTER IS 53 TODAY

Holly Hunter made her screen debut in the 1981 horror movie The Burning. She
also starred in The Piano (1993) for which she won the Academy Award for Best
Actress. She has also been nominated for an Oscar for her roles in Broadcast
News
(1987), The Firm (1993), and Thirteen (2003). Hunter has also won two
Emmy Awards with seven nominations and has won a Golden Globe Award
with another six nominations.

McClane in the Die Hard series of four action films beginning with Die Hard

winner.

IT’S KURT RUSSELL’S BIRTHDAY ~ 60 TODAY

Kurt Russell’s first acting roles were as a child in television such as the lead role in  
the western series The Travels of Jamie McPheeters (1963–1964). In the 1970s he signed a ten-year contract with the Walt Disney company, where he became the
studio’s top star of the ’70s. In 1979, Russell was nominated for an Emmy Award for
the made-for-television film Elvis. In 1983, he was nominated for a Golden Globe
Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for  
his performance in the 1984 film, Silkwood. During the 1980s, Russell was cast in  
several films by director John Carpenterin the futuristic action film Escape From New York, the horror film The Thing (1982), and the dark comedy/action film Big Trouble in Little China (1986). In 1994, he had a starring role in the military/science fiction film Stargate.

Joyce Van Patten is a stage, film and television actress and the younger   
sister of actor Dick Van Patten. Her list of guest appearances includes   
the TV shows, Gunsmoke, Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, The Andy  
Griffith Show, and Hawaii Five-O. Van Patten has had supporting roles  
in many films, among them as the head of the Little League in the  
original comedy film Bad News Bears in 1975.
