PRODUCT DEVELOPED ON THIS DAY IN 1903

In 1902, Binney & Smith developed and introduced the Staonal marking crayon
and in 1903 Edwin Binney, working with his wife, Alice Stead Binney, made his
own product line of wax crayons which sold under the brand name "Crayola." The Crayola name was coined by Mrs.Binney, a former schoolteacher. It comes from
"craie", French for "chalk," and "ola" for "oleaginous", or "oily.

successful album and one of the highest-selling records ever, selling
30 million copies by 2012. It has also been cited by critics as one of
the greatest albums of all time.

Bob Dylan (Robert Allen Zimmerman) is 75 today.
Zimmerman changed his name to Dylan after the poet Dylan
Thomas. He was born a Jew, but converted to Christianity.
While studying at the University of Minnesota, he became more
interested in folk music than rock and roll.
