FIRST PHONOGRAPH IN 1877

August 12, 1877 is the date popularly given for Thomas Edison’s completion
of the model for the first phonograph ( shown above). It was developed as a
result of Thomas Edison’s work on two other inventions, the telegraph and

Henry Ford was a prominent American industrialist, the founder of the Ford
Motor Company, and is credited with the development of the assembly line
technique of mass production. His introduction of the Model T automobile
(below) revolutionized transportation and American industry. As owner of
the Ford Motor Company, he became one of the richest and best-known
people in the world.

The original Walkman was a personal tape player built in 1978 by the Sony
corporation in Japan as an alternative to the home stereo system. It allowed
the listener to carry music with them and listen to it through small lightweight headphones.The Walkman was first introduced and marketed on July 1,1979.

THE PRODUCTION OF CRAYOLA CRAYONS

In 1885, Edwin Binney and his cousin C. Harold Smith (above) took control of
the Peekskill Chemical Company and re-named it Binney & Smith. While doing 
experiment with a mixture of slate waste, cement, and talc, Binney created the 
first dustless white chalk. His invention was awarded a gold medal at the St.
Louis World’s Fair in 1904. It was one year later that Benny & Smith
produced the first box of Crayola crayons (shown below).
