Ginger Rogers (Virginia Katherine McMath)
Born in Independence, Missouri  (July 16, 1911 – April 25, 1995)

Ginger Rogers appeared as the dance partner of Fred Astaire in a number
of classic movie musicals such as Top Hat (1935), Swing Time (1936), and
The Gay Divorcee (1934). She originally wanted to become a school teacher
but, became involved with vaudeville and Broadway acts as a dancer and
an actor before moving to Hollywood.

REMEMBER ‘’LONESOME GEORGE’’ ?


George Leslie Gobel (May 20, 1919 – February 24, 1991)

George Gobel initially pursued an entertainment career as a country
music
singer, appearing on the National Barn Dance on WLS radio,
and later on KMOX in St. Louis. Gobel enlisted in the U.S. Army Air
Forces
during World War II and served as a flight instructor in AT-9 
aircraft at Altus, Oklahoma and later in B-26 Marauder bombers
at Frederick,Oklahoma. After his discharge at the end of the war,
he switched from singing to comedy and soon began a comedy
show on NBC in 1954 that ran until 1960. It won him an Emmy
in 1955.

PLATTER RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1956

The Platters version of “My Prayer” reached number one on the charts and
was featured in the 2008 film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, as well
as the 1985 film Mischief and the 1999 film October Sky.Billboard ranked
this version as the number-four song for 1956.

EVA MARIE SAINT IS 92 TODAY

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Eva Marie Saint received an Academy
Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1954 classic
On the Waterfront with Marlon Brando and also starred with Jimmy
Stewart in the 1959 the Alfred Hitchcock spy thriller North by
Northwest.
