Sir Henry Morton Stanley was a Welsh journalist and explorer famous for his
exploration of Africa. He is also famous for being sent by the New York Herald
newspaper to find David Livingstone, a Scottish medical missionary with the
London Missionary Society and explorer who had completely lost contact with
the outside world for six years and was ill with malaria. Stanley found Dr.
Livingstone near Lake Tanganyika in present-day Tanzania. Livingstone
remained ill for most of the last four years of his life. He died May 1, 1873
at the age of 60.

Philadelphia (AP) – Former heavyweight boxing champion Joe Frazier 
died Monday night after losing his fight with liver cancer. The cancer
was diagnosed in late September and he was admitted to hospice care.

David Ogden Stiers is a veteran actor, director, vocal actor, and musician. He is noted
for his portrayal as Major Charles Emerson Winchester lll in the CBS sitcom M*A*S*H (1972-1983). He is also noted for his roles in Disney movies. Stiers is the associate conductor for the Newport Symphony Orchestra and  has guest conducted over 70 orchestras around the world, including the Oregon Mozart Players, the Vancouver Symphony, and the Yaquina (Ore.) Chamber Orchestra.

Alfred Bernhard Nobel  (October 21, 1833 –  December 10, 1896) 

Nobel was a Swedish chemist, engineer, armaments manufacturer and the 
inventor of dynamite. When he wrote his last will in 1895, he left much of 
his enormous wealth for the establishment of the Nobel Prizes. Since
1901, the prize has honored men and women for their outstanding
achievements in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature and for
work in peace.
