Kirk Douglas became an unlikely spokesman for stroke awareness
Kirk Douglas (born Issur Danielovitch)
(December 9, 1916 – February 5, 2020)



As an actor and philanthropist, Kirk Douglas received
an
Academy Honorary Award for Lifetime Achievement
and the
Presidential Medal of Freedom.

As an author, he wrote ten novels and memoirs. After
barely surviving a helicopter crash in 1991 and then
suffering a stroke in 1996, he focused on renewing
his spiritual and religious life.

He lived with his second wife, producer Anne Buydens,
until his death in 2020. A
centenarian, Douglas was one
of the last surviving stars of the film industry’s Golden
Age.

A pioneer of the American animation industry,Walt introduced
several developments in the production of
cartoons. As a film
producer, he holds the record for most
Academy Awards earned
(22) and nominations (59) by an individual. 

Walt Disney was presented with two Golden Globe Special
Achievement Awards and an
Emmy Award
, among other honors.

Several of his films are included in the National Film Registry
by the
Library of Congress
and have also been named as some
of the
greatest films ever
by the American Film Institute.

Natalie Wood - Speaking For A Change


On November 29, 1981, the actress
Natalie Wood, who starred in
such movies as Rebel Without a Cause and West Side Story,
drowned in a boating accident near California’s Catalina Island.

Wood started acting at age four and was given a co-starring role
at age eight in Miracle on 34th Street (1947).

Wood’s film credits also include West Side Story (1961), winner
of 10 Oscars, in which she played the lead role of Maria.

starring
Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, premiered in
New York City
; it went on to become one of the most beloved
Hollywood movies in history.

Although Casablanca was an A-list film with established stars

expected it to stand out among the many pictures produced
by
Hollywood yearly.

BIG ACADEMY AWARD WINNER OPENED

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, a film about a group of
patients at a mental institution, opened in theaters. Directed
by Milos Forman and based on a 1962 novel of the same
name by Ken Kesey, the film starred Jack Nicholson and
was co-produced by the actor Michael Douglas.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest went on to become the
first film in four decades to win in all five of the major
Academy Award categories: Best Actor (Nicholson),
Best Actress (Louise Fletcher, who played Nurse Ratched),
Best Director, Best Screenplay (Adapted) and Best Picture.        
        
Filming was on location in Salem, Oregon and surrounding
area, and in Depoe Bay on the north Oregon coast.

The producers shot the film in the Oregon State Hospital in
