Mary Jean "Lily" Tomlin was born in Detroit, Michigan.


Award-winning comedienne Lily Tomlin’s breakout role was performing as a
cast member on the NBC variety show Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In from 1970
until 1973. She became known later for her role in the film 9 to 5 (1980). She
began performing as a stand-up comedian in nightclubs after graduating from
college.

HORROR MOVIE MAKER HAS DEAD AT 76

Wesley Earl "Wes" Craven (August 2, 1939 – August 30, 2015)

LOS ANGELES (AP) –  Wes Craven, the prolific writer-director who thrilled
audiences with iconic and bloody suburban slashers like "Nightmare on Elm
Street" and "Scream" that made his name synonymous with horror, has died.

In a statement, Craven’s family said that he died in his Los Angeles home
Sunday, surrounded by family, after battling brain cancer.

A prolific writer, director and editor, Craven is credited with reinventing the
teen horror genre with the 1984 release of "A Nightmare on Elm Street"
starring a then-unknown Johnny Depp.

Oliver Wolf Sacks (July 9, 1933 – August 30, 2015)

(FoxNews) – Oliver Sacks, the eminent neurologist and acclaimed best-
selling author, died Sunday of cancer at his home in New York City.

His career included a number of hugely popular books, including
“Awakenings” (1990) which became an Academy Award-nominated
movie starring Robin Williams and Robert De Niro.

Roy Kelton Orbison  (April 23, 1936 – December 6, 1988)

The song "Oh, Pretty Woman" was a worldwide success for Roy Orbison. It
spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Billboard also 
ranked the record as the No. 4 song of 1964. The record sold seven million
copies.

Musicians on the record included Floyd Cramer on piano, Bob Moore on an
upright bass, Boots Randolph and Charlie McCoy on sax, and Buddy Harman
and Paul Garrison on drums. Guitar players included Billy Sanford, Jerry
Kennedy and Wayne Moss. Orbison also played a 12 string guitar.

Ingrid Bergman ( August 29, 1915 – August 29, 1982)

Bergman was a Swedish born actress who starred in many European
and American films. She won three Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards,
four Golden Globe Awards and the Tony Award for Best Actress. She is
ranked as the
fourth greatest female star of American cinema of all time
by the American Film Institute. She is best remembered for her roles as
Lisa Lund in Casablanca (1942), Bergman died on her 67th birthday in
London, of breast cancer.
