Robert Weston Smith, known commonly as Wolfman Jack 

                         (21 January 1938 – 1 July 1995)

Wolfman Jack had just finished broadcasting his last live radio program,
a weekly show nationally syndicated from Planet Hollywood in downtown
Washington, D.C. Shortly after arriving at his home located in Belvidere,
North Carolina, he died of a heart attack. The Wolfman was only 57.

Jackson DeForest Kelley (January 20, 1920 – June 11, 1999)

Actor DeForest Kelley was known for his iconic roles in Westerns and as
Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy of the USS Enterprise in the television and
film series Star Trek.

WESTERN TALKIE RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1929

In Old Arizona is a Western film based on the character of the Cisco
Kid. It was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and
was a major innovation in Hollywood. The film was the first major Western
to use the new technology of sound and the first talkie to be filmed outdoors
using authentic locations. In Old Arizona starred Warner Baxter as the first
singing cowboy.

GUY MADISON WAS BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1922

Guy Madison (January 19, 1922 – February 6, 1996)

In 1951, television came to the rescue of what was a faltering acting 
career for Guy Madison. He was cast in The Adventures of Wild Bill
Hickok. The series ran for seven years. He later left for Europe where
he found success in spaghetti westerns.
