Morgan Freeman actor, film director and narrator, has received Academy
Award nominations for his performance in Street Smart (1987), Driving Miss
Daisy (1989), The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and Clint Eastwood’s Million
Dollar Baby (2004). Freeman has appeared in many other hit films, including
Unforgiven (1992), Seven (1995), Deep Impact (1998) and the Batman film
The Dark Knight (2008). Morgan Freeman has been the announcer for the
CBS Evening News since 2010.

Marilyn Monroe, born Norma Jeane Mortenson but baptized and raised as Norma
Jeane Baker, was a actress, singer and model. She began a career as a model,

her performances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve (both 1950) were well received. Marilyn’s dramatic performance in Bus Stop (1956) was acclaimed by
critics, and she received a Golden Globe nomination. Marilyn also received a
Golden Globe Award for her role in Some Like It Hot (1959).

ANDY GRIFFITH IS 85 YEARS OLD TODAY
Andy Griffith is a actor, director, producer, Grammy Award-winning Southern-
gospel singer and a writer. In 1957 Griffith made his film debut starring in Elia
Kazan’s epic film A Face in the Crowd. Griffith starred in a one-hour teleplay
version of No Time for sergeants in March 1955 on The united Steel Hour on
ABC. Griffith later reprised his role for the film version of the same name in
1958. He became better known for his TV roles, playing the lead characters
in the 1960-1968 sitcom, The Andy Griffith Show on CBS, and in the 1986 to
1995 legal drama, Matlock on NBC and ABC. Griffith was awarded the
Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush on
November 9, 2005.

LEA THOMPSON IS 50 TODAY
Actress and director Lea Thompson is best known for her portrayal of
Lorraine Baines McFlay, the mother of Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) in
the Back to the Future trilogy, the first released in 1985. Other major
film roles included Red Dawn (1984), Howard the Duck (1986), and
All the Right Moves (1983).
DON AMECHE (MAY 31, 1908 – DEC. 6, 1993)
Don Ameche was an Academy Award winning American actor and a major
radio star, achieving memorable success during the late 1940s playing
opposite Frances Langford in The Bickersons (below), a radio comedy
series about a combative married couple. It began on NBC in 1946 and
moved to CBS the following year where it continued until 1951. Don
Ameche also enjoyed a substantial Broadway career.
