ART GARFUNKEL IS 75 TODAY

Arthur Ira "Art" Garfunkel was born in Queens, New York.

Art Garfunkel, singing partner of Paul Simon of the duo Simon &
Garfunkel, earned six Grammys, including the Lifetime Achievement
Award. In 1990, he and Simon were inducted into the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame.

Garfunkel claims he became obsessed with making music when he
was in first grade. He met Simon when they were acting in the school
play Alice In Wonderland.

Lulu Kennedy-Cairns (born Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie)

Scottish singer Lulu is best known to music fans for songs like "The Man with
the Golden Gun" from the James Bond film of the same name. In 1969, she
won the Eurovision Song Contest representing the U.K. with the song "Boom
Bang-a-Bang." She got her start singing with the band Bellrocks as a teenager.

The Hughes H-4 Hercules is the largest flying boat ever built and has the largest wingspan of any aircraft in history. It remains in good condition and is on display
at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon (below).

The song “Jingle Bell Rock” charted at No. 13 on Billboards Most Played
C&W by Jockeys chart, a predecessor to the Hot Country Songs chart. It
also peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. After it was featured on the
soundtrack to the 1996 film Jingle All the Way, the original version returned
to the country charts in late 1996-early 1997, reaching a peak of No. 60. It
also crossed to the pop charts, reaching #11 in the Cashbox Top 60, week
ending January 11, 1958.
