It was Elvis Presley’s second Milton Berle Show appearance where he put the
guitar aside and America witnessed, for the very first time, the 21-year-old singer
from head to toe, gyrating his soon-to-be-famous (or infamous) pelvis. The show
aired from the NBC Studio’s in Hollywood, California. (This day in History)

Born in the U.S.A.became Bruce Springsteen’s most commercially
successful album and one of the highest-selling records ever, selling
30 million copies by 2012. It has also been cited by critics as one of
the greatest albums of all time.


The song, The Birth of The Blues was written by Ray Henderson, the lyrics
by Buddy G. DeSylva and Lew Brown. It was published in 1926 and was a
big hit for Frank Sinatra.
