topping hits when “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone” reaches #1 on the Billboard
Hot 100
.

Over the course of their career, the Temptations placed 38 hit records in
the pop top 40—not just more than any other Motown Records artist, but
more than any American pop group ever.

AL, refused to give up her seat to a white man. Mrs. Parks was
arrested marking a milestone in the civil rights movement in the

Tina Turner released the single "Proud Mary" in 1971 and has received
eleven Grammy Awards, collaborating with many other popular artists.

She picked cotton with her parents as sharecroppers, and moved in with
her great-aunt after her parents divorced in 1978. She worked as a nurse’s
aide and began dreaming of becoming a nurse.

She went on a fiftieth anniversary tour in 2008, and broke the record for
solo artist concert ticket sales.

During the 1970s, Bonnie Lynn Raitt released a series of roots-influenced
albums that incorporated elements of
blues, rock, folk and country. In 1989,
after several years of critical acclaim but little commercial success, she had
a major hit with the album Nick of Time. The following two albums, Luck of
the Draw
(1991) and Longing in Their Hearts (1994), were also multimillion
sellers, generating several hit singles, including "
Something to Talk About",
"
Love Sneakin’ Up on You", and the ballad "I Can’t Make You Love Me"
(with
Bruce Hornsby on piano).

Raitt has received 10 Grammy Awards. She is listed as number 50 in
Rolling Stone‘s list of the "100 Greatest Singers of All Time" and
number 89 on the magazine’s list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of
All Time.
