ROCK MOVIE RELEASED ON THIS DAY IN 1956
Rock, Rock, Rock is a 1956 black-and-white movie featuring musical performances
from early rock ‘n’ roll stars such as Chuck Berry and Frankie Lymon. Famous disc jockey Alan “Moondog” Freed appears as himself. The singing voice of the main character Dori Graham, played by 13-year-old Tuesday Weld, is that of Connie
Francis. The soundtrack album (shown below) is widely regarded as Chuck Berry’s
first album. Many of the artists featured in the film do not appear on the album, and
only four songs on the album ("Over and Over Again," "I Knew From the Stars,"
"You Can’t Catch Me," and "Would I Be Crying") actually appear in the film.
DORIS DAY TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM!
(AP) Doris Day’s first album in nearly two decades, “My Heart” is set for a Dec. 2
release. The CD includes 13 previously unreleased tracks recorded over a 40-year span, including covers of Joe Cocker’s “Your Are So Beautiful,” the Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Daydream” along with many standards. All proceeds go to Day’s longtime cause,
animal welfare. A condensed version of the album was released in Britain earlier
this autumn and landed on the top 10 chart. Day turned 87 in April.
