Leslie Townes "Bob" Hope  (May 29, 1903 – July 27, 2003)

Legendary vaudeville comedian, radio personality, and actor Bob
Hope entertained military personnel in 57 USO tours between 1942
and 1988. He performed hundreds of acts with his special humor
per year during the height of his career, hosted The Academy
Awards fourteen times, and appeared in over 70 films and shorts.

At a young age, he began performing for voluntary donations on the
Luna Park streetcar by singing and making jokes. In 1915 Bob Hope
won an amateur talent contest for his
Charlie Chaplin impersonation.    

In 1997, the U.S. Congress declared Bob Hope the "first and only
honorary veteran of the U.S. armed forces."

Lorenzo “Larry” Caramella
(August 10, 1925 – January 16, 2018)

Returning from the war in 1946, Larry began his decades
long career in broadcasting as a DJ, booth announcer,
talk show host, newscaster and broadcast engineer. He
was with KPOJ, KXL, KGW, KPTV, and KATU along with
other stations.

NOTE: A committal service will be held Friday, May 11 at 1
P.M. at Willamette National Cemetary, 11800 SE Mt. Scott
Blvd in Portland, Oregon. A reception is scheduled for 1:45
P.M. at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 11801 SE Mt Scott
Blvd. Portland.

Detroit, Michigan.

Casey Kasem was the famed disc jockey of American Top 40, a national radio
show from 1970 until his retirement in 2009. He also provided the voice of
“Shaggy” (below) in the animated Saturday morning TV series Scooby-Doo.

Marconi was an
Italian inventor and electrical engineer known for his
pioneering work on long-distance
radio transmission and for his
development of
Marconi’s law and a radio telegraph system. He is
credited as the
inventor of radio, and he shared the 1909 Nobel
Prize in Physics
with Karl Ferdinand Braun "in recognition of
their contributions to the development of wireless telegraphy".

The Queen of Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald, won thirteen Grammy Awards and
became a legend for singing "Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall"
and "I’m Making Believe." Her rendition of "Summertime" with Louis
Armstrong
is considered one of the best collaborations in music
history.

RADIO TALK SHOW HOST HAS DIED AT 72

Arthur William Bell 111 was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina.        
        
 

Art Died at his home in Pahrump, Nevada this morning. The
exact cause of death is not know at this time but, an autopsy
has been scheduled. He had suffered from health problems in
the previous years. Bell posted on
his website in July 2016
that he had been hospitalized for
pneumonia
and revealed
at the time that he was
suffering with chronic obstructive 
pulmonary disease.
