The movie 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea It was the first science fiction film that
was personally produced by Walt and Disney Productions. It was also the first
feature length Disney film to be distributed by Buena Vista Distribution and was
Disney’s fifth live-action film overall.

ADVENTURE FILM DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1954
THE ROSWELL INCIDENT ON THIS DAY IN 1947
The Roswell incident took place on Monday, July 7, 1947, when an airborne
object crashed on a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. Explanations of what
actually occurred are based on both official and unofficial reports.The most
popular theory of what took place is that the object, or UFO, was a spacecraft
containing extraterrestrial life. Since the late 1970s, the Roswell incident has
been the subject of much controversy, and conspiracy theories have arisen
about the event.
The U.S. government maintains that what was recovered near Roswell was
debris from the crash of an experimental high-altitude surveillance balloon
belonging to what was then a classified top secret program named Mogul
(see below).

JUNE LOCKHART IS 88 YEARS YOUNG TODAY
Actress June Lockhart primarily is remembered as the mother in two
TV series, Lassie during the mid 1950s on CBS and Lost in Space
(1965-1968) on CBS. She also portrayed Dr. Janet Craig on the
CBS television sitcom Petticoat Junction (1968–70).
She made her acting debut opposite her parents in a film version of
A Christmas Carol, in 1938.

Mary Loretta “Mariette” Hartley
Hartley is a well known character actress who began her career in her
teens as a stage actress. Her film career began with Ride the High
Country (1962), She first appeared on television in a CBS episode
of Gunsmoke in 1962.

SPOCK DELIVERED FIRST STAR TREK LINE
"The Cage" is the first pilot episode of the Star Trek: The Original Series
science fiction series. In this episode, the character Mister Spock, played
by Leonard Nimoy (r) delivers the very first line in all of Star Trek, "Check
the circuit!"
