LEONARD NIMOY IS 82 TODAY
Leonard Simon Nimoy is best known for his portrayal of Mr. Spock
in the original Star Trek series (1966–1969). He began acting at age
8 in local theater productions, despite his parents’ reservations.

JAMES LOVELL IS 85 TODAY
James "Jim" Arthur Lovell, Jr.,is a former NASA astronaut and a
retired captain in the U.S. Navy. He is best remembered as the
commander of the Apollo 13 mission, which suffered a oxygen
tank explosion en route to the Moon, thus aborting the lunar
landing. The crew was successfully brought back to Earth.
