Celebrities Arriving At The WWE's SummerSlam Kickoff Party In Hollywood

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper (Roderick "Roddy" George Toombs)

Piper made his pro debut in Winnipeg at the age of 14. When he made
his way to the ring playing the bagpipes (his gimmick) the ring-announcer
introduced him as "Roddy the Piper", the fans heard it as “Roddy Piper”
and the name stuck.

Roddy came to the Pacific Northwest from California in late 1978-early
1979 where he signed with promoter Don Owen of Pacific Northwest
Wrestling, a part of Don Owen Sports which operated out of Portland,
Oregon. He won several championships before moving on to other pro-
wrestling organizations. Piper was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame
in 2005.

Roddy Piper, along with Don Coss, created Portland Wrestling Uncut, a
revival of the original Portland Wrestling in 2012.
