SERIES DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1947

The quiz show You Bet Your Life hosted by Groucho Marx with announcer
and assistant George Fenneman debuted on ABC Radio, then moved to
CBS Radio debuting October 5, 1949 before making the transition to NBC-
TV
and NBC Radio on October 4, 1950.

JACLYN SMITH IS 70 TODAY


Jacquelyn Ellen "Jaclyn" Smith

Smith played Kelly Garrett on ABC-TV’s Charlie’s Angels and was 
the only original female lead to remain with the series for its entire 
run (1976–81). She also worked as a K-Mart fashion icon. Jaclyn
initially intended on becoming a ballet dancer after moving to New
York, but soon became interested in modeling and acting.

BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1930


The Big Bopper (born Jiles Perry "J. P." Richardson, Jr. in Texas)
(October 24, 1930 – February 3, 1959)

Richardson was a DJ, singer, and songwriter who recorded "Chantilly Lace"
and wrote "White Lightning" and "Running Bear." He died in a plane crash
in Clear Lake, Iowa, along with rock stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and
pilot Roger Peterson.
