The song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” topped the Billboard pop
chart on December 18, 1961, was an instant classic that went
on to become one of the most successful pop songs of all time,
yet its true originator saw only a tiny fraction of the song’s
enormous profits.

On December 18, 1620, the English ship Mayflower arrived at
modern-day Plymouth, Massachusetts, and its passengers

(AP) – Australian drummer Colin Burgess, an original member
of the hard rock band AC/DC in the early 1970s, has died.

No cause of death has been disclosed at this time.

First issue

On December 17, 1892, Arthur Baldwin Turnure first published
a new magazine, dedicated to “the ceremonial side of life” and
targeted at “the sage as well as the debutante, men of affairs
as well as the belle.” A product of the Gilded Age, Vogue has
chronicled and influenced high society, fashion and culture
ever since.

The largest issue published by Vogue magazine was the
September 2012 edition featuring Lady Gaga in the cover,
which contained 900 pages.
