On November 7, 1989, in New York, former Manhattan borough
president David Dinkins, a Democrat, was elected New York
City’s first African American mayor, while in Virginia,
Lieutenant Governor Douglas Wilder, also a Democrat,
becomes the first elected African American state governor
in American history.

Keith Wilson (61) was born in Portland, Oregon. He graduated
from Roosevelt High School, earned an associate degree from
Portland Community College in 1983, a bachelor’s degree from
Oregon State University in 1986, and a graduate degree from
the University of Portland in 1998. His career experience
includes working as a CEO.

and stage, she has received many accolades throughout her

Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014, the National Medal of Arts in
2014, the Kennedy Center Honor in 2019, and the Screen Actors
Guild Life Achievement Award in 2023.
