in Paris, successfully completing the first solo, nonstop
transatlantic flight and the first ever nonstop flight between
New York to Paris. His single-engine monoplane, The Spirit
of St. Louis,
had lifted off from Roosevelt Field in New York
33 1/2 hours before.

Long before his stature in the world of show business earned
him the nickname “Chairman of the Board,”
Frank Sinatra was
known simply as “The Voice.”

Francis Sinatra died of a heart attack on May 14, 1998, at the
age of 82 with his immediate family by his side at Cedars-
Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Six days later, some 400 mourners attended his private funeral
at the Roman Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly
Hills, with thousands more lining the streets outside.
