DEBUT OF THE MICKEY MOUSE WATCH IN 1933

On August 3, 1933, the first Mickey Mouse watch was introduced by the Ingersoll Waterbury Clock Co. of Waterbury, Conn. and Walt Disney Productions at the
Chicago Exposition ‘Century of Progress’. The original Mickey Mouse watch was
priced at $3.25 and later lowered to $2.95. A pocket watch version (shown below)
was also made available around the same time for the price of $1.50.

TONY BENNETT ~ 85 YEARS OLD TODAY

Tony Bennett (born Anthony Dominick Benedetto) began singing at an
early age. He later fought in the final stages of World War ll as a U.S. Army
infantryman in Europe. Upon returning to civilian life Bennett developed his
singing skills and soon signed with Columbia Records where he had his first
number one song  with “Because of You” in 1951. In 1962, Bennett recorded
his famous signature song, “I Left My Heart In San Francisco”. Bennett is also
a serious and accomplished painter, creating works under the name Benedetto.

Jay Waverly North is most remembered for his lead role in the CBS sitcom
Dennis the Menace which aired from 1959 to 1963. Jay was picked for the
lead role in the show by Hank Ketcham, creator of the Dennis the Menace
comic strip. Approximately five hundred hopefuls auditioned for the part.
