GUNN FIRST SEEN ON THIS DAY IN 1958
Peter Gunn is a private eye TV series that aired on the NBC and later
ABC television networks from Friday September 22, 1958 to September
18, 1961, for 114 total thirty-minute episodes. The title character was
played by Craig Stevens. The series is remembered most for its music,
especially "The Peter Gunn Theme," which won an Emmy Award and
two Grammys for Henry Mancini and has become a jazz-rock standard.
SINGER DEBBY BOONE IS 55 TODAY
Deborah "Debby" Anne Boone is a singer and stage actress who is best known
for her 1977 hit, "You Light Up My Live”, which spent a record ten weeks at the
top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She won a Grammy Award the following year
for Best New Artist. Debby’s career focused on the country music scene resulting
in the number one country hit, “Are You on the Road to Lovin’ Me again”. In the
1980s, she began recording Christian music which resulted in four Top 10
Contemporary Christian albums along with two Grammys. Debby Boone is
the third of four daughters born to singer-actor Pat and Shirley Boone,
daughter of country music star Red Foley.

The Beverly Hillbillies is a situation comedy originally broadcast for nine seasons on
CBS from Saturday September 22, 1962 to March 26,1971. The stars of the series
were Buddy Ebsen, Irene Ryan, Donna Douglas, and Max Baer,Jr.The show became
a huge ratings success for most of its nine-year run, ranking among the top twelve
most watched series for seven of the nine seasons.
