Ladies’ Home Journal magazine first appeared on February 16, 1883. It soon
became one of the leading women’s magazines of the 20th century. It was the
first American magazine to reach 1 million subscribers in 1907. The magazines
looked more like newspapers at the time and a year’s subscription cost was
50 cents.
