John “Wes” Montgomery (March 6, 1925 – June 15, 1968)

Acclaimed jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery is the brother of jazz greats,
Buddy and Monk Montgomery. His unique style of playing has been a
strong influence to many guitarists. Wes taught himself how to play the
guitar at the age of nineteen, although he could not read music, he had
a great ability to learn by ear. Montgomery’s career was cut short when
he died of a heart attack at the young age of 45.
