CHARACTER ACTOR DEAD AT 80
Luke Askew (March 26, 1932 – March 29, 2012)
Luke Askew was a character actor for more than 40 years. He
is best known for his role in the 1969 film Easy Rider. Askew
made his film debut in the 1967 Otto Preminger film Hurry
Sundown. He was a native of Macon, Georgia, later moving
to Lake Oswego, Oregon. He died Thursday, March 29 at
his Lake Oswego home of lung cancer.

ASSASSINATION ON THIS DAY IN 1865
This is the last known high-quality photograph of Lincoln.
President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in Ford’s Theater by John Wilkes
Booth. He was carried across the street to a small room in a boarding house
where he never regained consciousness. Lincoln died early the next morning.

at the museum in Ford’s Theatre, Washington, D.C.

known as "The First Lady of Country Music” and continues to be one
of the most successful vocalists of all time. As of 2011, Lynn continues
to tour and has received numerous country music awards.
