OKLAHOMA LAND RUSH ON THIS DAY IN 1889
The Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889 was the first land run into the Unassigned Lands
of various counties in the state of Oklahoma. It started at high noon with an estimated
50,000 people lined up for their own piece the available two million acres. By the end
of the day, both Oklahoma City and Guthrie had established cities of around 10,000 people in literally half a day.

Antonio Rodolfo Quinn-Oaxaca (April 21, 1915 – June 3, 2001)
Anthony Quinn, was a Mexican American actor, as well as a painter and
writer. He starred in many critically acclaimed films, including Zorba the
Greek (1964), Lawrence of Arabia (1962), and The Guns of Navarone
(1961). Quinn won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor twice;
for Viva Zapata! in 1952 and Lust for Life in 1956.
CHUCK COLSON HAS DIED AT AGE 80
Charles Wendell "Chuck" Colson (October 16, 1931 – April 21, 2012)
The former Special Counsel to President Richard Nixon (1969 to 1973) and
later a noted Evangelical Christian leader and cultural commentator, died
Saturday at a Northern Virginia hospital after a brief illness.
