                        (February 28, 1940 – September 5, 2012)

South wrote the country-pop favorite "(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden,"
had hits of his own with "Games People Play" and "Walk a Mile in My Shoes"
and recorded with Bob Dylan and Aretha Franklin. He died Wednesday of a
heart attack at his home in Flower Branch, GA.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt addresses the Democratic National Convention in  
Chicago, July 2, 1932. His son James is on the right. Roosevelt was the first 
nominee to make an acceptance speech in person.
