     Robert George Young (February 22, 1907 – July 21, 1998)

Young was a television, film, and radio actor, best known for his leading
roles as Jim Anderson of Father Knows Best on CBS from 1954-1960,and
as physician Marcus Welby in Marcus Welby, M.D. on ABC-TV from 1969-
1976.

Grand Hotel is a drama film directed by Edmund Goulding. It is the only film to 
have won an Academy Award for Outstanding Production (Best Picture) without 
it or its participants being nominated in any other category.

NUMBER-ONE ON THIS DAY IN 1969

“Everyday People”, song by Sly & the Family Stone, was the first single by the group
to reach number one on the Soul singles chart and the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single held the Billboard position for four weeks until March 14, 1969. It is one of the most popular songs of the 1960s.

SWITZERLAND MONTREUX JAZZ FESTIVAL SLY STONE
Sly Stone (Sylvester Stewart) will be 69 on March 15th. He was
inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

FIRST OSCAR WINNING FILM WAS IN 1927

Wings is a silent film portraying World War l fighter pilots, produced by
Lucien Hubbard, and directed by William A. Wellman. It was the first film,
and the only silent film to win the Academy Award for, what was then 
called Outstanding Picture. The name Best Picture was first used in
1962 when the winner then was Lawrence of Arabia.
