LOOKING BACK ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY
Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio began his career by appearing in television commercials prior to landing recurring roles in TV series such as the soap opera Santa Barbara and the sitcom Growing Pains in the early 1990s. He
made his film debut in the comedic sci-fi horror film Critters 3 (1991) and received first notable critical praise for his performance in This Boy’s Life (1993). DiCaprio turned 38 today.

FRED ALLEN’S TELEVISION GAME SHOW
Judge for Yourself, at first subtitled The Fred Allen Show, is a Mark Goodson
and Bill Todman quiz and audience participation television program, with
comedian Fred Allen as the emcee. It aired on NBC from August 18, 1953
to May 11, 1954. Dennis James was the series announcer, but took over
as host in January 1954.

THE MARINE CORPS IS 237 YEARS OLD TODAY!
The United States Marine Corps traces its institutional roots to the Continental
Marines of the American Revolutionary War, formed by Captain Samuel Nicholas
by a resolution of the Second Continental Congress on 10 November 1775, making
two battalions of Marines. That date is regarded and celebrated as the date of the
Marine Corps’ "birthday".
