Jackie DeShannon had a string of hits beginning in the 1960s. She was one of the first female singer-songwriters of the rock ‘n’ roll era. She is currently an entertainment broadcast correspondent on Sirius XM Satellite Radio on the weekends.
August 20th marks the last time that all four of The Beatles are together as a group in a recording studio. They completed mixing "I Want You" for the "Abby Road" album at EMI’s London studio. The unusual song was written by John Lennon, but credited to Lennon-McCartney. It last nearly eight minutes, with very few lyrics, only 14 different words are sung.

U.S. Air Force pilot Colonel Hanes, flew to Mach 1.25 at an altitude of 40,000 feet and broke the flight airspeed record at 822.135 mph at the National Air Show. This was the first supersonic world speed record. It was also the first speed record set at high altitude. All speed records in the past were set close to the ground for measurement purposes,
