LOOKING BACK AT TODAY IN HISTORY ~
GEMINI 7 LAUNCHED ON THIS DAY IN 1965
Crew members James Lovell and Frank Borman
Gemini 7 was the 4th manned Gemini flight with Air Force Lt. Col. Frank Borman
and Navy Comdr. James A. Lovell on board. They spent nearly 14 days in space
making a total of 206 orbits, and were joined by the Gemini-6A flight which then
performed the first rendezvous maneuver of manned spacecraft.
NUMBER-THREE SINGLE ON THIS DAY IN
After reaching #28 with their first chart entry, "Honest I Do", earlier in the
year, Kathy Young and The Innocents attain their only Top 10 hit when
"A Thousand Stars" tops out at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Young was
not yet fifteen when she made the recording.
