FOUNDER BORN ON THIS DAY IN 1918
Samuel Moore "Sam" Walton (March 29, 1918 – April 5, 1992)
Oklahoma-born Sam Walton is the founder of Walmart retail chain and
Sam’s Club. He worked at J.C. Penny in Des Moines, Iowa, training in
management. He managed his first variety store, which was part of
the Butler Brothers chain, in 1945 when he was only 26.

SCREENWRITER HAS DIED AT 91
Lorenzo Semple Jr. (March 27, 1923 – March 28, 2014)
Lorenzo Semple Jr., the creator of the classic Batman ABC-TV series
(1966-1968) has died. The screenwriter just turned 91 on Thursday
and passed away of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles Friday.
THEM BONES, THEM CHICKEN BONES
A Ganong Bros. Candy maker, Frank Sparhawk, invented the “Chicken bone."
candy in 1885. The confection was in fact Ganong’s first signature candy for
Canada’s oldest candy company, located in the small town of St. Stephen in
Southern New Brunswick.
