GARY U.S. BONDS IS 75 TODAY
Gary U.S. Bonds (Gary Levone Anderson)
Bonds’ first hit was the song "New Orleans" which went to #6. It was followed
by "Not Me", a flop for Bonds but later a hit for the Orlons, and then by his
only number one hit, "Quarter to Three" in June 1961. "Quarter To Three"
sold one million records, earning a gold disc .While he has continued to
perform, Gary also keeps active as a songwriter.
NUMBER-ONE ON THIS DAY IN 1961
The song “Running Scared” was recorded as part of Roy’s 1961 album “Crying”
as the final track on the album. It is noted for being written without a chorus.

WILLIAM BOYD’S BIRTHDAY
William Lawrence Boyd (June 5, 1895 – September 12, 1972)
Actor William Boyd is best remembered for portraying cowboy hero Bill
”Hopalong” Cassidy between 1935 and 1954 in 66 films and 49 TV
episodes.
Before fame, Boyd worked in auto sales and as an orange picker after
moving to Los Angeles.
The Royal Rosarians and Queen Gloria Krieger conduct a Knighting
Ceremony with 1951 Rose Parade Grand Marshal William Boyd.
