TV SERIES DEBUTED ON THIS DAY IN 1972

The Waltons won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in
1973. Also in 1973 Richard Thomas won the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama
Series and Michael Learned won the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series
three times in 1973, 1974, and 1976. Ellen Corby was also a three-time winner
in the Supporting Actress category, winning in 1973, 1975, and 1976. Will Geer
was awarded the Supporting Actor Emmy in 1975. The series also earned a
Peabody Award for its

Clayton Moore

(September 14, 1914 – December 28, 1999)

Moore was born Jack Carlton Moore in Chicago,
Illinois. He is best remembered as playing ABC 
TV’s masked man, The Lone Ranger that aired
for eight seasons, from 1949 to 1957. Before
fame, Clayton Moore became a circus acrobat,
performing a trapeze act in various expositions
and shows at age 8.

(April 25, 1934 – September 9, 2014)

Denny Miller, who played scout Duke Shannon on the classic TV Western Wagon
Train
on NBC/ABC (1957-1965) and was the first blond Tarzan on the big screen
in 1959, has died.

Miller, who wore a yellow rain slicker as the Gorton’s Fisherman in TV commercials
for the seafood company for more than a decade, was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease in January and died Tuesday in Las Vegas.

Kitty Keene, Inc.
was a 15-minute radio soap about a female
private detective who was a former Ziegfeld Follies’ showgirl. It
first aired on CBS and then switched to Mutual. Kitty was played
by Beverley Younger, Gail Henshaw and Fran Carlon. The series
ran till April 25, 1941 and was sponsored by Procter and Gamble.
